In 2017 Brightlingsea Lido was under threat of closure so it was decided to transfer management from Tendring District Council to a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) run by community volunteers, with funding and assistance from Brightlingsea Town Council as well as Tendring District Council.

Following a series of public meetings and consultations with other community-run lidos, ambitious plans are now being prepared for development and improvement of the Lido over the next few years. This will include a wind barrier, improved changing rooms, and eventually a sustainable means of heating the water.

Artist's impressions (below) have been prepared showing what the pool might look like in the future. For the full proposal document, please click on the PDF below.

None of this will be possible without input from volunteers. Please click on the 'Get involved' page (under the 'About' tab) for information on how you can get involved.
